Conducted by Don Peterson, the BYU Symphonic Band uses a full concert band instrumentation of approximately 85 musicians. The group rehearses from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday during both Fall and Winter semesters. While their performance demands are lesser than those of the Wind Symphony, they perform significant literature from a variety of musical periods on each concert, and they have given premieres to various works for the wind band.
Recent concert programs have included international works and multimedia presentations. Each year some of their performances are added to the BYU Bands in Review CD. Some recordings of recent performances can also be heard in the Audio Files section of the Gallery.
