John was raised mostly in Wichita Falls, TX. He is the son of a marching band director who is also a percussionist and feels that drumline is in his blood. Some of his earliest memories are going to football games and sitting close to the drumline.
He graduated from SH Rider High School in 1997 and came to BYU as a Music Education major, but miserably failed the entrance music theory test. Following an LDS mission to Colombia from 1998-2000, he returned to BYU and made a life changing decision. Music remained in his blood and was his passion, but he followed another passion and changed majors to Marriage, Family, and Human Development with a Spanish minor. He graduated in 2004 with a BS.
Soon after graduating, John went to Ecuador for six months and directed a volunteer program working in orphanages. He then taught Spanish in a charter school in Vallejo, CA, before returning to BYU for his Master's Degree in Social Work. He graduated with a MSW in 2007 and had the fortune of working for Provo School District and UT County Division of Substance Abuse as a clinical therapist intern, working mostly with Spanish speaking clients. He spent the last year in Las Vegas working as a social worker for the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services.
John was a member of the BYU Drumline in 1997, 2000-2003, and 2005-2006 for a total of seven years. He thinks he just might hold the record for most years in the BYU marching band. He was on the snare line for six of those years and played tenors in 2001. He is extremely excited to return to BYU to work with the Drumline!

Peter Werner was born and raised in Provo, Utah. After graduating from Provo High School he enrolled at BYU with no intention of becoming a music major, although he did play in the Cougar Marching Band and continued to be active in music.
While serving a mission to Brazil Rio de Janeiro, Peter found a new love for teaching and realized how much he missed music. A year after returning from his mission, he became a music education major and graduated in 2008. While at BYU, he played the tuba in the Wind Symphony (2 years), and the Cougar Marching Band (5 years - including 2 years as section leader).
After graduation, Peter taught band and orchestra at Ecker Hill Middle School in Park City, Utah for one year. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in music education.
